Johnny Bencomo was born October 30, 1948 in Arrey, NM. Raised in Las Curses, NM Johnny has always had a passion for music, and taught himself guitar at age 13. He started performing professionally at the William Bonny Saloon in Mesilla, NM at age 20. Johnny moved to Tucson in 1972, and began his career in Southern Arizona in 1973. He moved to Tombstone, AZ in 1986 where he performed for a few years at the Crystal Palace and Big Nose Kate’s. Johnny has also worked as a ranch hand, branding, gathering, mending fences.
Johnny's talent is well known throughout Arizona, from steakhouses to RV Resorts to private benefits and cowboy gatherings. He performs all over the Southwest, including Tucson, Yuma, Cochise County, Phoenix, Alpine, Santa Cruz County, Nevada, Colorado, Santa Fe, NM, and Utah.
Johnny is most famous for his incredible 18-string guitar playing, which he currently showcases across the Southwest. You can regularly see Johnny play at the Monument Guest Ranch in Tombstone every Sunday from 5-9 pm.
